About Mumbo

Mumbo is built by one person. No company, no team — I'm a developer from Slovenia.

I started it for my grandfather. He spoke Italian when he was young and wanted to pick it up again, but language apps were never an option for him, because none of them speak Slovenian. What he needed was simple: say something in Slovenian, hear it in Italian, then repeat the Italian out loud until it sticks. So that's what I built him. The app says the phrase, listens to him say it, and shows him which words came out right.

That's also why Mumbo covers languages most apps skip: 60 languages in every direction, over 3,500 pairs, most of them not available anywhere else.

At some point I realized the same thing works when you're traveling. Say it in your language, hear it in theirs, try saying it yourself. So Mumbo became a travel companion too: Talk translates a real conversation live, in both directions, and Practice helps you keep the phrases you actually needed.

Nothing you say is stored. The app is there to help you speak, not to record you.
